Prior to Q1 2024’s median compensation of $428K, the previous high-water mark was set in Q2 2022 ($420K).

With the median time in previous seat for newly placed executives pretty steady at roughly 24 months, we were curious how much that dynamic was impacting executive compensation.

The short answer: Those who were hired during the previous compensation peaks appear to be commanding slightly richer base + bonus packages now. The lone exception appears to be the cohort of executives who had spent between three and four years in their previous role—their base + bonus packages are the strongest.
